Tim Young is resident in the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster as an associate in the firm’s Technology Transactions Group and the Patent Group. His transactional practice is concentrated on transactions and counseling involving intellectual property, including structuring and negotiating license agreements, technology transfers, adversarial patent litigation settlements, joint development agreements and other intellectual property matters relevant to technology companies. Mr. Young's patent practice consists of preparing and prosecuting patent applications as well as providing analysis and counseling in support of patent licensing, litigation and due diligence.

Mr. Young began his career as an engineer at Exxon Research & Engineering and Mobil Technology Company, where he developed applications to optimize and monitor refinery units. He then worked for a series of start-ups, including Quoteship.com and Logistics.com where his responsibilities varied from software development to sales and business development.

Mr. Young founded Bridge Consulting, which offered language and cultural integration training to multinational corporations, in Beijing, China. As the Director of Business Development for Korean Business Consultants, he led an attempt to bring the first Internet connection to hospitals and universities in Pyongyang, DPRK. He also founded The Arch Rock Foundation, which creates and supports community-based mental health services for mentally disabled children in the Beijing area.

Mr. Young received his B.S.E. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a cancer research grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006. Mr. Young is a member of the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
