Dr. Leslie Robinson is an associate in the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. Her practice is focused on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Her practice also includes strategic patent counseling, freedom-to-operate and validity assessments, and due diligence review.
Dr. Robinson received her B.S. from Duke University, and her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Indiana University, where her doctoral research focused on the total synthesis of marine natural products. She conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Irvine, working with Dr. Larry Overman. She received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. While in law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the San Diego International Law Journal, and is a member of the Order of the Coif.
Prior to law school, Dr. Robinson worked as a medicinal chemist in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. From 1999-2002, she was Director of Medicinal Chemistry for Bristol-Myers Squibb Research Laboratories (formerly DuPont Pharmaceuticals) in San Diego, where she led project teams focused on the discovery of small molecule therapeutics for metabolic diseases, inflammation and thrombosis. Dr. Robinson was a Principal Research Scientist at CombiChem, Inc. (1997-1999) and a Staff Scientist at Novartis Pharmaceuticals (1991-1997). She holds seven issued U.S. patents.
Dr. Robinson is a member of the State Bar of California, and is also registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
