Mr. Maeder is a partner resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the tax group.

Mr. Maeder’s tax practice consists of advising partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations, and public and closely held C corporations on a variety of federal, state, and local tax issues. He has notable experience in matters involving advance rulings, audits, and appeals before the Internal Revenue Service and various state and local government agencies.

Mr. Maeder provides a broad range of tax planning and controversy services in the areas of federal income and employment tax matters and state and local income, franchise, sales and use, property, documentary transfer, business license, and employment tax matters. He has represented numerous clients, including Adelante Capital Management, Lockheed Federal Credit Union, Public Storage, Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., and World Vision International.

Mr. Maeder has participated as a speaker at numerous tax programs sponsored by the California Continuing Education of the Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Small Business Administration, and various business and industry groups.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Maeder was a shareholder at Heller Ehrman LLP, where he served as the co-chair of the Tax Practice Group from 2002-2005. Mr. Maeder received his J.D. in 1975 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he was Order of the Coif and Comment Editor of the UCLA Law Review, and his B.A., summa cum laude, in 1971 from the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Maeder is a member of the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Christian Legal Society, and serves on the Board of Directors of Christian Legal Aid of Los Angeles.
