Michael Strauss is a member of the Intellectual Property group in the Northern Virginia office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. His intellectual property practice includes patent, copyright, and trademark law, with particular emphasis on client counseling and preparation. Dr. Strauss has extensive experience in all aspects of patent preparation, prosecution and portfolio development strategies in a broad range of technologies including computer hardware and software, electronic devices and business methods. His practice also includes counseling clients concerning the protection of Intellectual Property Assets and conducting investigations into the patentability of inventions, validity of patents, and the licensing and marketing of intellectual property assets.

Dr. Strauss is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Dr. Strauss earned a B.A. from the University of the State of New York in 1975, and a B.S.E.E. from Union College in 1977. He then went on to earn an M.S. in 1983, and his J.D. in 1987 from George Washington University. Most recently, he earned a D.Sc. in Computer Science from George Washington University.

Dr. Strauss has been licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office since 1986, in Virginia and Maryland since 1987, and in the District of Columbia since 1988. He has also been admitted to practice in numerous federal courts including the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal, D.C. and Fourth Circuits, and U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia, Maryland and the Eastern District of Virginia.
