Mr. Kurucza is a partner in the firm of Morrison & Foerster’s Washington, D.C., office. He is nationally recognized as one of the leading experts on legal issues concerning the financial service industry and has represented a number of major banks, mutual fund complexes, thrifts, insurance companies, securities firms, and financial planning firms in connection with new product and service programs and inter-industry expansion initiatives and issues arising under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, federal banking and securities laws and related federal laws.

Mr. Kurucza was formerly the Director of the Securities & Corporate Practices Division of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Assistant Director of the Division of Investment Management for the SEC, and Chief Counsel to the Pennsylvania Securities Commission.

He has chaired and appeared as a panelist on numerous banking, mutual fund, savings and loan, and securities law programs. He also has authored many articles on securities, mutual fund, and banking law matters in the Legal Times of Washington, the American Banker, The Bank Securities Journal, and various bar association publications, as well as an American Bankers Association publication, Banks and Mutual Funds. Mr. Kurucza is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the American Banker, and other financial publications.

Mr. Kurucza received his B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree from the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He is a past Chairman of the American Bar Association Subcommittee on Securities Products and was named by the American Banker as one of the 125 most influential people in Washington, D.C., regarding financial service matters. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (2007 and 2008) as a leader in the field of mutual funds law. He also served as General Counsel to the former Bank Securities Association.
