James Paras's practice involves both counseling and litigation in all areas of labor and employment law, including matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, such as the NLRB, EEOC, DFEH and OSHA. He has been responsible for the defense of several major employment discrimination class actions and has represented a broad spectrum of companies in a large number and variety of arbitrations, wrongful termination actions, administrative proceedings and injunctive matters. In addition, he has broad experience in complex multi-employer and industry-wide collective bargaining negotiations and has successfully represented a number of companies in a variety of industries in union organizing efforts.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster in 1966, Mr. Paras was Associate Chief of the Appellate and Supreme Court Division and Chief of the Special Litigation Division of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C. He became a partner of the firm in 1968 and served as Chairman of the Labor and Employment Law Department from 1971 through 1984.

Mr. Paras has been consistently listed as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" in the publication by Naifeh and White.
