Ms. Tritt advises a wide range of telecommunications firms, focusing specifically on wireless, satellite, local competition and broadband technologies, and international issues. She also counsels clients on the regulatory implications of various transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, stock spinoffs, and new business ventures. In the international area, Ms. Tritt advises on the development of telecommunications infrastructure, licensing, and regulatory regimes, including projects in Afghanistan, Mexico, and Sri Lanka.

As head of the 350-person Common Carrier Bureau, Ms. Tritt directed all FCC matters involving the interstate and the international regulatory activities of telecommunications carriers, including cellular, satellite, long-distance and local telephone companies. Ms. Tritt oversaw a number of major policy proceedings that encouraged the development of advanced telecommunications networks and greater competition among telecommunications service providers. She also had primary responsibility for a number of significant international proceedings affecting international accounting rates, market entry policies and foreign ownership issues. Ms. Tritt served as a spokesperson for the FCC on common carrier matters, testifying before Congress on the state of competition in the wireless market place and regulatory issues affecting wireless carriers.

Prior to her appointment as Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau, Ms. Tritt served as Telecommunications Advisor to Chairman Alfred C. Sikes. In that role, she was substantially involved in such issues as radio spectrum allocation and licensing assignments for new wireless services. Prior to joining the FCC in 1989, Ms. Tritt served as Assistant Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, and Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, at GTE Corp. Earlier in her career, Ms. Tritt was an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, and a journalist.

Ms. Tritt was appointed as Vice Chair of the FCC’s Advisory Committee for the 1999/2000 World Radiocommunication Conference. She served on the Board of Directors of General Cable PLC, a London-based cable and local telephone service provider until the time of its acquisition by Telewest, and on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association Forum on Communications Law.

The Legal Times recently identified Ms. Tritt as one of the top ten Leading Communications Lawyers in the Washington region. She was listed in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s “The Best of the Best” as a top telecommunications expert, based on in-house counsel and peer nominations.
