She defends lawsuits alleging, among other things, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, employee privacy claims, breach of contract, employment discrimination, Family and Medical Leave Act claims and wage and hour claims. To assist clients to comply with the law and to avoid litigation, Ms. Schulman counsels clients on all of these issues, drafts employment agreements and employee handbooks and conducts training sessions for management and non-management employees. Ms. Schulman also regularly advises clients on business immigration matters and assists clients in obtaining immigrant and non-immigrant visas for their employees. Ms. Schulman’s clients range from small non-profit corporations to major international employers.

Ms. Schulman received her B.A. degree with distinction in 1983 from the University of California at Berkeley and her J.D. degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, in 1987. At Boalt Hall, Ms. Schulman was a member of the Moot Court Board and was elected to the Order of the Coif Academic Honor Society. Ms. Schulman began her career with Morrison & Foerster as a paralegal in 1983. She returned after law school as an associate in the Labor and Employment Law Department in 1987, and became a partner in the firm in 1995.

Ms. Schulman is a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee and the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association and of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has published articles on violence in the workplace, wrongful termination and discrimination. She is also a frequent speaker throughout Southern California on all aspects of employment law.

Ms. Schulman served for three years on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and provides substantial pro bono services to the community. In 2001, Ms. Schulman received the Los Angeles County Bar Association Honorable Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Award and the Being Alive Spirit of Hope Award for her work on behalf of an HIV-positive woman who was illegally expelled from an externship at a Los Angeles County Health Clinic. Ms. Schulman coordinated Morrison & Foerster’s “adoption” of Franklin High School in Highland Park. She served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center and on the Executive Committee of the Children’s Bureau of Southern California.
