Mr. Kennedy's practice focuses on privacy, data protection, ecommerce, and telecommunications. He has represented major corporations in privacy and information security proceedings before the Federal Trade Commission and has assisted companies in a variety of industries in responding to breaches of data security and customer privacy. Mr. Kennedy also represents telecommunications companies in regulatory proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission.
Mr. Kennedy is an adjunct professor of law at Catholic University of America, where he teaches cyberlaw and telecommunications regulation. He is the author of “The Business Privacy Law Handbook,” recently published by Artech House. He also is the author or co-author of four books on communications law, and has testified before Congress as an expert on cyberlaw.
Mr. Kennedy is an of counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
Representative Matters
- Member of defense trial team in AT&T divestiture antitrust litigation.
- Successfully concluded a number of FTC data security and privacy inquiries for Fortune 500 companies, without adverse enforcement action against clients.
- Developed privacy and information security practices and policies for a number of U.S. and multinational corporations.
- Provide ongoing advice and assistance to major Internet service providers in disputes concerning customer and third-party content.
