Douglas L. Hendricks is a partner in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster. He received his J.D. degree in 1978 from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall), where he was Editor-in-Chief of the California Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Hendricks served as law clerk for the Honorable Alfonso J. Zirpoli, United States District Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He associated with Morrison & Foerster in 1979, and became a partner of the firm in 1984.
Mr. Hendricks is engaged in a general litigation practice with an emphasis on litigation in the areas of trade secrets, financial services, real estate, consumer class actions, and intellectual property, particularly in the area of trademark. First USA Bank, American Fair Credit Association, Wells Fargo Bank, Franklin Resources, Inc., Bank One Wisconsin, and Fireside Bank are among the clients he has represented in class action litigation. He has been involved in all aspects of trademark counseling, prosecution, and litigation. He has advised or litigated on behalf of trademark clients in a wide variety of industries including software, publishing, entertainment, biotechnology, medical devices, telecommunications, financial services, food and beverages, electronic commerce, and motor vehicles.
Among the companies that Mr. Hendricks has represented in intellectual property litigation are Lucasfilm, Inc.; Pearson plc; The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; JDSUniphase, Inc.; Avcom Technologies, Inc.; Spruce Technologies, Inc.; Banco Inverlat, S.A.; the Robert Mondavi Winery; RP55; Konami Computer Entertainment Corp.; Nature’s Cure, Inc.; Net2000 Communications, Inc.; and Verio, Inc. Mr. Hendricks has also advised the William Morris Agency; Odwalla, Inc.; Sanwa Bank; Checkpoint Software; Panomics; Quadrem International Holdings, Ltd., the Indian Motorcycle Corporation; and the San Francisco International Airport, among others, on trademark matters.
In 2004, the San Francisco Magazine listed Mr. Hendricks as one of Northern California’s “Super Lawyers” in Intellectual Property Litigation. He is also mentioned in Legal 500 US for his work on trademark litigation.
