Wendy Garbers is a partner in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster’s San Francisco office. Ms. Garbers has a broad-based litigation practice, with an emphasis on trial work, financial services cases, and consumer class actions. She has experience examining witnesses at trials and hearings; arguing a variety of motions, including case-dispositive motions; and has taken and defended over 50 depositions.

Ms. Garbers received her B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1995, with majors in Physics and Economics. In 1998, Ms. Garbers received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude . After graduating from law school, Ms. Garbers served as a law clerk to the Honorable James B. Loken, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Ms. Garbers joined Morrison & Foerster in 2001.

Ms. Garbers was counsel of record in the following published cases: Strand v. U.S. Bank , 2005 N.D. 68 (N.D. 2005) (establishing the enforceability of a no-class-action arbitration provision); Johnson v. Capital One Bank , 120 Cal. App. 4th 942 (2004) (granting summary judgment on grounds that state law precluded expansion of a card issuer’s liability beyond that permitted under the Truth in Lending Act).
