Chuck Holland has represented investors and companies ranging in size from start-up companies to Fortune 500 companies in intellectual property matters. Mr. Holland's experience includes patent prosecution, portfolio review and strategic advice, ex-parte and inter-partes reexaminations, interferences, non-infringement and invalidity analyses and opinions, due diligence reviews for companies and for investors, pre-litigation and litigation analyses and assistance, and design-around analyses and advice.

Mr. Holland is familiar with a wide array of technologies. He is an integral member of the Cleantech practice, providing counseling to companies and investors for intellectual property issues related to e.g. solar energy, water purification, solar cells, alternate fuels, batteries, and waste handling. Mr. Holland has also been an integral member of the life sciences practice and has aided investors and companies in the medical device and pharmaceuticals fields. He is also familiar with semiconductor device fabrication and associated manufacturing equipment and processes such as plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, chemical mechanical planarization, and photolithography. Mr. Holland has also represented companies involved in the use or manufacturing of chemical and petrochemical products such as catalysts, fuels, polymers, and aromatics.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster in 1997, Mr. Holland worked in industry as a chemical engineer and also as a corporate attorney. Mr. Holland is a member of the Intellectual Property and Business practices in the Palo Alto office.
