Mr. Flum was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1952. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1982, where he served as an editor of the law review. Mr. Flum associated with the law firm of Morrison & Foerster in 1982. He became a partner of the firm in 1989.

Mr. Flum’s practice mainly involves complex litigation in the areas of securities, energy, deregulation, and professional negligence. Mr. Flum’s recent engagements include the defense of Grant Thorton LLP in a shareholder class action ( In re Scorpion Technologies Securities Litigation) ; representation of AES Corporation in a PUPPA dispute (AES Pacific v. P.G.&E.) ; representation of CNF Corporation in an action for breach of contract, fraud and consultant malpractice (CNF Corporation v. Gallagher) ; representation of King World Productions in a libel action (Shively v. King World) ; and representation of Bank of America in a class action involving trust account service charges (Youngberg v. Bank of America) . Mr. Flum represents both plaintiffs and defendants in both the trial and appellate courts. Mr. Flum is a member of the California bar.
