Nancy Thomas’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, principally in the areas of class action defense and the trial and arbitration of business disputes. As a member of Morrison & Foerster’s Financial Services Litigation Practice Group, Ms. Thomas regularly represents financial institutions in the defense of consumer class actions in state and federal court involving a variety of issues, including consumer banking and credit regulation.

In addition, Ms. Thomas has represented companies in a variety of commercial disputes involving complex financial matters, insurance coverage and intellectual property.

She maintains an active pro bono practice and received the Thurgood Marshall award from the Association of the Bar of the City of New York in 1998.

Ms. Thomas joined Morrison & Foerster following a clerkship with the Honorable Stephen V. Wilson of the United States District Court, Central District of California. She received her B.A. degree, cum laude , from Princeton University in 1988, and her J.D. degree, cum laude , from The University of Chicago Law School in 1992. She was an Associate Editor of The University of Chicago Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
