Dr. Morin is a litigation associate in the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Bowdoin College and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Princeton University, where he conducted original research on the deposition of amorphous semiconductors for use in large-scale solar power generation. Dr. Morin received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2007, where he earned the Indian Law Certificate, and was Managing Editor of the Tribal Law Journal. He has over eight years of research experience in the physics of semiconductor materials and devices, including four years experience in Europe. There he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the French National Center for Scientific Research and served as project manager for a multinational supplier of processing equipment to the microelectronics industry, developing industrial-scale thin film transistor fabrication techniques for active matrix liquid crystal displays. Dr. Morin is fluent in French.
Dr. Morin's practice concentrates on patent infringement litigation and licensing negotiations involving a wide variety of technologies including wireless communications, semiconductor devices, and satellite broadcasting. He has participated in the prosecution of numerous patent infringement cases for several domestic and foreign clients before the International Trade Commission under 19 U.S.C. § 1337 (Section 337) and before several U.S. District Courts. Dr. Morin is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in patent cases.
