Christine Lyon focuses on privacy and employment law. Ms. Lyon advises clients about laws regulating the collection, use, disclosure, and cross-border transfer of personal information, with a particular focus on consumer and employee data. She assists clients in developing global strategies to comply with U.S. and international privacy laws, helping clients navigate through the often conflicting laws. She also advises clients on privacy issues in outsourcing arrangements, security breach notification requirements, laws regulating the use of personal data for direct marketing purposes, and data transfer agreements.
Ms. Lyon's practice also involves all aspects of employment law, including counseling, litigation, and transactional work. She advises clients about compliance with California and federal employment laws, including wage and hour requirements, investigations of workplace complaints, and reductions in force. She assists clients with multinational employment issues related to mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing transactions, and corporate restructuring.
Ms. Lyon has published a number of articles and frequently speaks on the topics of EU and Asia data protection laws, workplace privacy issues, and data security laws. She is a co-editor of Global Employee Privacy and Data Security Law (BNA Books, 2009). She is also a member of the editorial board of the World Data Protection Report.
Ms. Lyon was elected to Phi Beta Kappa while attending the University of Iowa. While at Stanford Law School, she served as an executive editor of the Stanford Law Journal.
