Mr. Roberts is the Director of Morrison & Foerster’s Forensic Accounting Services Group and specializes in cases involving the securities laws and in providing assistance with internal investigations. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner.

Mr. Roberts has assisted in the representation of over 100 companies, officers, directors, and other institutions in all types of civil securities cases, including class actions, derivative actions, and enforcement proceedings commenced by the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has conducted or assisted in over 20 internal investigations for public companies and their directors, including investigations for companies located in Japan, China, Taiwan and Russia.

In addition, Mr. Roberts provides assistance and guidance regarding Sarbanes-Oxley related issues, generally accepted accounting principles, audit standards, internal controls and the calculation of economic damages.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster LLP, Mr. Roberts spent 29 years, including 19 years as an audit partner, at the Big 4 accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. He served as the Partner-in-Charge of the Northern California Litigation Support and Corporate Reorganization Practice for eight years. During this period, Mr. Roberts was a litigation consultant and an expert witness on accounting and matters and on economic damages in addition to being appointed as an arbitrator. Prior to that he was the lead audit partner for companies in a variety of industries and, for four years, was the Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco Emerging Growth and High Technology Group.

Personal Information

Mr. Roberts is a member of the American Institute of Certified Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He served as a member of the board of the Association of Insolvency Accountants and as Deloitte’s representative on the California State Society of CPAs Committee on Litigation Support.

Mr. Roberts contributes his time and resources to a number of community service organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Audit Committee on the board of trustees San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and as a trustee for the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation and for Stiles Hall.

Mr. Roberts graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BS degree and an MBA. Mr. Roberts is married and has four children. He is an avid skier as well as a baseball and Cal football fan.
