Mr. McPherson is a litigation partner based in the New York office. His wide-ranging practice includes representing companies and individuals in investigations (both regulatory and internal), class action lawsuits, securities fraud litigation, and contractual disputes. Representing clients in various industries, his cases have involved claims and defenses based on federal transportation law, federal and state securities laws, RICO, federal civil rights laws, the Alien Tort Statute, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the Class Action Fairness Act, and various states’ deceptive practices statutes.

Mr. McPherson’s representative matters include:

  • The defense of a global cargo carrier in a New York Attorney General investigation.
  • Winning a motion to dismiss a securities fraud lawsuit on behalf of an on-line retailer. See Weinstein v. Appelbaum, 193 F.Supp. 2d 774 (S.D.N.Y. 2002).
  • Winning a motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit against a major financial institution.
  • The defense of an oil and gas company in a securities fraud lawsuit, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client.

Mr. McPherson is a member of the New York bar. He received a B.A. degree in history with high honors from the University of Texas in 1994. In 1997, he earned a J.D. degree, also with high distinction, from the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Iowa Law Review and the National Moot Court Team, and was elected to the Order of Coif.
