Eric Walters focuses his practice on intellectual property and complex business litigation for high-technology companies and entrepreneurs. He has worked on cases involving all aspects of IP including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, and unfair competition.
Mr. Walters has represented clients in the biotechnology, Cleantech/greentech, software, medical device, semiconductor and other industries in federal and state court, as well as in interference proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Walters was a member of the trial team representing the University of California in patent litigation against a leading life sciences company over a pioneering biotechnology patent involving human growth hormone, which resulted in a $200 million settlement. He was also a member of the trial team in U.S. ex rel Boisvert v. FMC Corporation, which resulted in the largest jury verdict ever in a case of its kind and a judgment of approximately $90 million.
While earning his J.D., Mr. Walters was elected to the Order of the Coif, and was an Articles Editor for the Michigan Law Review.
