Lawrence R. Katzin has a diverse practice that includes handling a wide variety of consumer class actions, securities fraud litigation, contract and business tort claims, and healthcare litigation. Mr. Katzin has handled litigation matters pending before state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as before arbitration tribunals. He has also published articles regarding settlement and liability allocation in securities fraud actions.

Mr. Katzin is also an active member of the San Francisco legal community. He provides pro bono legal services through and serves on the Board of Directors of the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, served as the Co-Chair and a director of Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom, and has received the State Bar’s Wiley E. Manual Award for his contribution of pro bono legal services.

Mr. Katzin began his career in the San Francisco office of Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon, where he was an associate from 1989 to 1996, and a partner from 1997 to 1999.

• Won summary judgment in Michigan state court for global cargo carrier in putative nationwide consumer class action regarding shipping rates. Won appeal at Michigan Court of Appeals.
• Won motion to dismiss securities fraud class action in Northern District of California for Silicon Valley software company. Won appeal at Ninth Circuit.
• Defended global cargo carrier in 28 overlapping statewide and nationwide consumer class actions brought around the country regarding package insurance. Successfully removed 27 of 28 to federal court. Established MDL proceeding. Obtained very favorable settlement for client.
• Represent hospitals in contractual claims against payors, medical groups, physicians, vendors, and other hospitals.
• Defended commercial shipping counter franchisor in nationwide consumer class action, resulting in favorable coupon settlement.
