Mr. Boddy received his B.A. and Masters of Chemical Engineering degrees from Rice University in 1970 and a J.D. degree from the Yale Law School in 1975. He joined the law firm of Morrison & Foerster as an associate in 1975 and became a partner in 1981. Mr. Boddy became Of Counsel to the firm in 1996.
Mr. Boddy has served as Vice Chair, Treasurer, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Labor Section of the California Bar Association and as Chair of the Individual Rights Committee of the Labor Section. He is a member of the Employee Rights and Responsibilities in the Workplace Committee of the Section of Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association. He previously served on the EEO Committee of the Section of Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association, as well as on the Employment and Labor Relations Law Committee of the Litigation Section. Mr. Boddy teaches Modern Employment Law at the Stanford University Law School. He previously served as a Block Leader for the Certificate in Employee Relations Law Program of the Institute of Applied Management and Law. He has written and lectured in the areas of labor law, equal employment opportunity law, drug testing, privacy rights, unfair competition, arbitration, and wrongful discharge. He is the author of California Employment Agreements and California Termination Agreements, computer software for generating employment, arbitration, proprietary information, and termination agreements, published by Lawgic Publishing Company. Mr. Boddy served as the original chief editor of California Employers’ Guide to Employee Handbooks and Personnel Policy Manuals, published by Matthew Bender.
Mr. Boddy is engaged in a general labor and employment practice, including state and federal litigation in labor, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, and unfair competition cases; National Labor Relations Board proceedings; collective bargaining negotiations and arbitrations; administrative practice before state and federal agencies in the employment discrimination areas; and counseling in all areas of labor and employment law. Mr. Boddy also has substantial experience in disability access litigation and counseling.
