Mr. Babbe is a native of Los Angeles, California. He received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of California at Irvine in 1978, and graduated second in his class at University of California at Los Angeles School of Law in 1981. He was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Moot Court Honors Board. Mr. Babbe is a partner with Morrison & Foerster and former Managing Partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Mr. Babbe is engaged in a general business litigation practice, focusing on insurance coverage, professional liability and banking litigation. He has handled a wide array of insurance coverage litigation in both state and federal courts. Mr. Babbe served as liaison counsel in a multi-billion dollar environmental coverage action. He has also prosecuted numerous directors and officers’ liability, accountants’ liability, and borrower fraud actions. In addition, Mr. Babbe advises clients on alternative dispute resolution and other preventative strategies, and has represented banks and other financial institutions in a variety of matters, including foreclosures, lender liability and other actions.

Mr. Babbe was named by Best Lawyers of America 2007-2009 as a top attorney in the field of insurance law and listed in Super Lawyers magazine 2004-2008. Mr. Babbe is a member of the litigation sections of the California Bar and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
