Jason Bartlett is a partner in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster’s San Francisco office. His practice focuses on intellectual property with an emphasis on patent litigation. He has represented international and domestic companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving biotechnology, medical devices, computer hardware, telecommunications, and heavy industry.

From 2003 through 2006 Mr. Bartlett was resident in the firm’s Tokyo office, where his practice focused on representing Japanese electronics, communications, and industrial companies in intellectual property and antitrust litigation and international commercial arbitration. Mr. Bartlett has represented clients in matters venued in U.S. District Courts, the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Tokyo District Court, and a variety of international arbitral fora.

Mr. Bartlett joined Morrison & Foerster in 2000. He received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Davis in 1995, and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1998. Mr. Bartlett is member of the state bar of California.

  • Represented clients in patent interference proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office involving genetically engineered vaccines and diagnostics.

  • Represented global Japanese electronics company in patent suit involving liquid crystal display technology.
  • Represented Indian software development company in breach of contract arbitration relating to customizable insurance software.
  • Represented U.S. manufacturer of global satellite equipment against former Japanese distributor in dispute venued in the Tokyo District Court.
  • Represented Japanese electronics and communications companies in antitrust suit involving standards setting for third-generation mobile communications; complaint was voluntarily dismissed by plaintiff.
  • Represented Japanese industrial company in patent litigation involving beverage packaging technology; complaint was voluntarily dismissed by plaintiff.
  • Represented global Japanese conglomerate in arbitration relating to steel mill construction project in Brazil.
  • Represented global Japanese electronics company in arbitration with licensor of technology for cellular communications; case settled favorably after hearing construing the contract.
