Dr. Jie Zhou is an intellectual property law partner specializing on patent law in the Palo Alto office of Morrison & Foerster. Dr. Zhou primarily represents clients in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in their world-wide patent portfolio development, including the procurement, management, and strategic planning. She has significant experience in crafting out patentable space in crowded, complex fields as well as in mining her client's portfolio to maximize value. Besides patent prosecution, her practice includes the preparation of opinions (patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity); and due diligence reviews for financings, collaborations, product co-developments, and strategic partnering deals.

Dr. Zhou has more than 10 years of research experience in neuroscience, cell biology, and biochemistry. Dr. Zhou holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from University of California, Davis; a B.S. in Biochemistry from Beijing University, China; and a J.D. from University of San Francisco.

Dr. Zhou is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
