Ms. Warrington is a partner in the Financial Services Practice Group in the New York and Washington, D.C. offices. Her practice focuses primarily on retail financial services, with a special emphasis on privacy, data security, credit card, joint venture, and regulatory enforcement issues. Ms. Warrington counsels a diverse range of clients, including banks, retailers, and insurance companies, on a wide variety of consumer laws, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. She also negotiates a variety of joint venture, servicing, and portfolio purchase and sale transactions and assists companies facing inquiries from bank regulators and state attorneys general.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Warrington was a vice president at Citigroup, serving as legislative and regulatory counsel for the global consumer business and before that, as general counsel for the North America Cards Division. She played an integral role in implementing Citigroup’s Privacy Promise, heading a multi-disciplinary task force that developed the privacy training materials and program that became the corporate-wide template. Prior to joining Citigroup, Ms. Warrington was a vice president and senior associate counsel at The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., where she was group leader for Chase Bank Card Services, managing the legal work for both the U.S. and international card operations.
Ms. Warrington is a frequent speaker at conferences on privacy, data security, and joint marketing issues. She is Vice Chair of the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the American Bar Association, a member of the Consumer Bankers Association Lawyers Committee, and a member of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers. In 2008, Chambers and Partners listed Ms. Warrington as a leading lawyer in privacy and data security.
She received her B.A. in Government from Oberlin College and her J.D. from New York University, where she was a Note and Comment Editor on the Journal of International Law and Politics.
