Mr. Kim is the leader of the high-tech patent group in the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster.  His practice focuses on patent procurement and counseling, and intellectual property litigation.  Mr. Kim has assisted clients, including start-ups and established corporations, in procuring patents and developing patent portfolio strategies in a variety of technologies, including: electronics, computers (hardware and software), telecommunications, digital imaging, semiconductor manufacturing, analytics (e.g., statistical modeling), Internet-based business methods, video graphics processing, pharmacological screening, genetic database systems (bioinformatics), and medical devices.  Additionally, Mr. Kim has represented clients in the context of patent infringement, trademark infringement, and trade secret misappropriation lawsuits pending before state and federal courts.

Mr. Kim is licensed to practice before the State Bar of California and is admitted in the United States Federal District Courts, Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California.  Mr. Kim is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Kim is a member of the California Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association.  He was also the 2005 Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA).  Mr. Kim is a past President of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association (SDIPLA) and was a member of the SDIPLA Board of Directors from January, 1998 to June, 2004.
