Gang Xu is a senior associate in the Project Finance and Development Group of Morrison & Foerster LLP. He has worked with lenders, developers and contractors in various corporate and project finance deals since 1994.

Born in Beijing, China, Mr. Xu is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. He received a Bachelor of Law degree, with the highest honors , from Beijing University Department of Law in 1990, a Master of Law degree in Common Law Studies from Georgetown University Law Center in 1991 and a Juris Doctor degree from Boston University Law School in 1994. Mr. Xu co-authored American Cases on Contracts , a book published by the Law Press in Beijing in January 1999.

Mr. Xu is admitted to practice in New York, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Xu’s recent projects include:

  • advising Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) on marketing plan, venue construction and other contract issues;
  • advising The State Economic and Trade Commission and Asian Development Bank on financing policies for small and medium-sized enterprises in China;
  • advising Export-Import Bank of the United States on a $1.5 billion financing for three natural gas-fired power facilities in Turkey;
  • advising Overseas Private Investment Corporation on financing of a Ritz-Carlton hotel project;
  • advising International Finance Corporation on its equity and loan investments in a Chinese joint venture company carrying out a port project at Zhapu Port in Zhejiang Province, China; and
  • advising International Finance Corporation and AIG Asian Infrastructure Fund II, L.P. in connection with their indirect equity investment in Midway Infrastructure (Holdings) Ltd., a Chinese joint stock company carrying out toll road projects in China.
