Dr. Michael Ward is the founder of the firm's Plant IP practice and is a member of the steering committee for the firm's Cleantech practice.
His practice consists of preparing and prosecuting international life science patent applications, performing patent due diligence in connection with M&A and other financing transactions, development and management of patent portfolios, counseling clients regarding patent infringement and validity issues, assisting in patent litigation, counseling in a wide range of licensing and joint venture arrangements, handling patent re-examinations, and supporting patent interference projects. He works closely with members of the licensing group both in the U.S. and outside the U.S. on patent licensing issues.
Dr. Ward's clients include Novartis, Dole Foods, California Table Grape Commission, Macusight, Energy Biosciences Institute, Corthera, Mendel Biotechnology, Inc., and Frazier Healthcare Ventures.
Dr. Ward was a post-doctoral fellow in molecular biology at the Harvard Medical School and the Department of Molecular Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
