Jeff Jaeckel is a partner in the Washington D.C. office and a member of Morrison & Foerster LLP’s litigation group and antitrust practice. Mr. Jaeckel primarily represents foreign and domestic corporations in connection with matters relating to U.S. and international competition law and trade regulation.

Mr. Jaeckel has particular experience representing corporations in connection with private antitrust litigation and in guiding corporations through the domestic and international merger review process. Mr. Jaeckel also assists clients in the protection of their intellectual property and counsels clients on the antitrust ramifications of commercial agreements to capitalize on the value of intellectual property.

Mr. Jaeckel recently completed a secondment at a leading toy manufacturer, where he served as acting U.S. Regulatory Counsel and counseled on the entire breadth of regulatory issues facing a multinational consumer products company.

Mr. Jaeckel’s representative matters include:

  • Successful defense of a major cable MSO in connection with lawsuit alleging $500 billion of damages from unlawful monopolization and misappropriation of concepts and ideas for a new cable television network;
  • Successful defense of one of the nation’s largest managed mental health care organizations in connection with national class action lawsuit brought by mental health care professionals alleging that MMHOs had illegally conspired to boycott providers, monopolize care markets and fix reimbursement rates;
  • Representation of start-up manufacturer of durable medical equipment in connection with the Federal Trade Commission’s merger review of the company’s sale to a global medical equipment supplier;
  • Representation of enterprise software company in connection with U.S. and international antitrust reviews of the company’s acquisition of a significant competitor;
  • Successful representation of a leading European biotechnology firm in connection with an FTC investigation and related private antitrust litigation arising out of a patent interference settlement agreement; and
  • Successful representation of a specialty children’s website in connection with an FTC investigation of the website’s COPPA compliance activities.

Mr. Jaeckel is an honors graduate of the College of William & Mary (B.A. 1995) where he was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society in Economics. Mr. Jaeckel received his J.D. in 1998 from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as a member of the writing staff for the Wisconsin Environmental Law Journal and was selected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Jaeckel associated with Morrison & Foerster LLP in 2001. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jaeckel practiced at the Washington D.C. law firm of Dow, Lohnes & Albertson P.L.L.C., where his practice focused primarily on civil antitrust litigation, antitrust counseling, merger review and commercial litigation.

Mr. Jaeckel is a member of the state bars of Wisconsin, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the federal courts in the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Western District of Virginia.
