Mr. Petersen is an Of Counsel in the firm’s Business Department and is resident in the Tokyo office. 

Mr. Petersen’s practice is concentrated on infrastructure and project development and finance. Mr. Petersen has extensive experience advising project developers and sponsors, multilateral and commercial financing institutions, contractors/suppliers and governments in all aspects of the acquisition, development, disposition, financing and operation of projects in the LNG, power generation, oil & gas, alternative fuels, mining and transportation sectors.  Mr. Petersen has led and successfully closed transactions in over 30 countries throughout Asia, Latin America, Oceania and North America.

Mr. Petersen regularly serves as lead counsel on projects and transactions involving upstream oil & gas exploration, LNG liquefaction, LNG transportation, LNG regasification and LNG sales and marketing.  Mr. Petersen also regularly serves as lead counsel to clients engaged in the acquisition, construction, development, disposition and financing of projects in conventional and non-conventional power generation, alternative fuel production and marketing, mining and transportation.

Mr. Petersen regularly speaks to clients and public sector organizations and contributes articles to professional magazines on current developments in the LNG and the general project development and finance sectors.  Recent public sector speaking engagements include“Project Financing of the LNG Supply Chain”, Japan Institute for Overseas Investment, July 2009 and “Acquisition Finance of Power Generation Plants”, Japan Institute for Overseas Investment, April 2007.  Recent publications include “Reopening LNG Contracts”, in Project Finance International, April 2009 and “Gas Natural v. Atlantic LNG: A Rare Glimpse into Price Reopener Clauses”, interviewed by LNG Business Review, July 2009.
