The rapid evolution -- and dramatic upheaval -- in the media industries have sparked a quiet revolution in the laws that govern the creation and distribution of creative works. One of the country's leading copyright scholars, Paul Goldstein, Lillick Professor of Law at Stanford University and Of Counsel to Morrison & Foerster LLP, will discuss how recent legislative and case law developments are shaking the traditional structure and foundations of copyright law.

Topics will include: 

  • The DMCA “Safe Harbor” Provisions
  • The Orphan Works Legislation
  • Transformation of the Transformative Use Doctrine (including a discussion of Bill Graham Archives v. Dorling Kindersley)
  • Potential Limitations on Injunctive Relief (including a discussion of eBay v. MercExchange)
