Gordon Milner is a partner in our China practice. He specializes in providing advice on intellectual property, information technology law and outsourcing.
Mr. Milner has advised clients in the technology, financial services, telecommunications and life sciences industries in the Asia, Europe, and the US on a wide spectrum of technology related matters. His practice ranges from major projects such as the development and establishment of the entire technology infrastructure for a new national PRC bank; to the cutting edge, for example property issues in online gaming and the protection of music and other copyright works on peer-to-peer filesharing networks.
Mr. Milner has particular expertise in respect of cross-border outsourcing in China and the wider Asian market and has advised clients in respect of a range of projects from traditional IT outsourcing arrangements, through call centre contracts, to complex contract manufacturing relationships.
Mr. Milner has substantial experience providing specialist intellectual property and technology law support in relation to technology transactions across the region including development, licensing and distribution arrangements in the technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Mr. Milner is a frequent speaker and writer on such topics as cross-border services, encryption, and online gaming and has delivered lectures on those subjects to government and corporate audiences in the region. He also specializes in the field of 'open source' software and continues to be an active participant in public debates involving government and major players in the software industry. Mr. Milner was recently ranked as a leading individual in Technology, Media and Telecommunications and Information Technology in Chambers Global 2007 and Chambers Asia 2008, respectively. He was also selected to be recommended in Chambers Global’s The World's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Mr. Milner has been resident in Hong Kong since 2001, having previously practiced in London. He graduated in jurisprudence from the University of Oxford in 1994 and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1997 and Hong Kong in 2002.
