Charles Coker is a Corporate Group associate based in the firm’s Shanghai office. He has advised clients on a broad range of corporate matters, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, private equity fund transactions, venture capital financings and securities laws. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Coker practiced in Los Angeles with a leading US law firm.
Mr. Coker received his JD (cum laude with order of the coif) from Loyola Law School and was admitted to the California bar in 2006. While at Loyola Law School, Mr. Coker served as an extern for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in the chambers of the Hon. Stephen Reinhardt and as the Chief Research Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review.
Prior to law school, Mr. Coker was a Fulbright Scholar to Austria where he attended the “Mozarteum” Conservatory for Music and the Dramatic Arts. Mr. Coker was active in the motion picture and music recording industry in Los Angeles and has performed on numerous film scores with such prominent composers as John Williams, Danny Elfman, James Horner and Hans Zimmer. Also, he has recorded with a variety of notable artists, including Prince, Harry Connick Jr., Kenny G, and Julie Andrews. Mr. Coker is a former faculty member of the Department of Music at UCLA. His B.M. and M.M. are from the University of Southern California.
