The June issue of The M&A Journal showcases an article by partner Michael Hagan and associate Heidi Johanns exploring the implications of the increasing prominence of foreign investment in the United States by sovereign wealth funds.

The article, entitled “Sovereign Wealth Funds: Risks, Rewards, Regulations and the Emerging Cross-Border Paradigm,” examines the origins and bases of sovereign wealth investment, some of the significant concerns that have been expressed by the U.S. and Western European governments and some of the risks and benefits of this phenomenon, the existing legal and regulatory regimes and their efficacy for protecting the economic and national security concerns raised by sovereign wealth fund investment and the merits of some of the current proposals in the public arena that are intended to allay some of the fears and anxiety generated by cross-border sovereign wealth fund activities.
