Morrison & Foerster was nominated for three awards (two deals in the same category) at the recent Asian Legal Business (ALB) magazine's "China Deal of the Year" Awards held in Beijing on November 26, 2004. The awards recognize the best legal work of the year done by both local and international firms in China.
Steve Toronto was awarded with the ALB Foreign Law Firm Dealmaker of the Year Award. The firm was nominated for two ALB Industry Awards:
- ALB Industry Award for "Deal involving a State Owned Enterprise", due to our role as counsel of Kodak China in the largest-ever acquisition of State-owned shares of a public Chinese company, Lucky Film Co.)
- ALB Industry Award for "Telecoms", due to our role as counsel of Linktone Ltd. in its US$86,000,000 global initial public offering and listing of American Depositary Shares (ADSs) on the Nasdaq; and our role as counsel of BOCOG, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services, the IOC's affiliate that controls Olympic broadcast rights, to establish the Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co. Ltd. (BOB), which will produce television programming used by broadcasters worldwide during their coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games, as well as construct and operate the International Broadcasting Centre and other venues, produce important related events, and provide other relevant broadcasting services to rights-holding broadcasters.)
