Morrison & Foerster Adds UK Tax Practice with Latest Lateral Hire

09/16/2005

London, September 16, 2005 - Morrison & Foerster announced today that tax partner Trevor James is joining the firm to establish a tax practice in London.

Mr. James has over fifteen years experience providing corporate tax advice on a range of domestic and international transactions.  He has particular expertise advising on the tax aspects of venture capital and M&A transactions.

Mr. James joins Morrison & Foerster from Bird & Bird, where he was joint head of the International Tax Group.

London Head of Corporate Paul Claydon commented, "We are delighted that Trevor is joining us.  Trevor’s recruitment is a key part of our strategy to build out the London office generally and the corporate practice in particular.  His arrival allows us to build a new practice area in the London office and further develop our international tax practice.  Trevor will provide a very valuable resource to our clients in London, increasing the level of service we are able to offer on capital markets, private equity and M&A transactions, including cross-border transactions with our U.S. and Asian offices.  Trevor also brings specific tax expertise in the context of technology transactions and we anticipate that he will also work very closely with our Technology Transactions Group."

"Morrison & Foerster is a dynamic and highly regarded international firm and I am delighted to have the opportunity to establish the tax practice in London," said Trevor James.  "I have always had a particular interest in the technology and life science sectors, which are areas that Morrison & Foerster excel in around the world.  The growth of the London office in the past year has been dramatic and I am joining at a particularly exciting stage of its development.  I will also be part of a highly successful international tax group with very able practitioners."
