Stephen Huggs is an associate in the Business Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo Office. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Huggs practiced in the Finance Department of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, in New York.

Mr. Huggs earned his J.D. degree in 2005, and an LL.M. in Taxation in 2006, from New York University School of Law. In addition he holds an M.A. degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University (2005) and B.A. degrees in both Political Science and History from Texas A&M University (1990).

Mr. Huggs has assisted in the representation of Japanese clients in the acquisition of overseas energy facilities, and in the representation of large financial institutions in syndicated loan facilities. He has also assisted Japanese clients in both the sale of foreign subsidiaries and the acquisition of foreign corporations. Mr. Huggs’ experience also includes IRS compliance work and assisting Japanese clients in US tariff and customs matters.

Mr. Huggs is admitted to the bar in both New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Huggs was formerly an officer in the U.S. Navy (Surface Warfare).
