Timothy Hewitt is an associate in the Business Department of Morrison & Forester’s Tokyo Office.

Mr. Hewitt completed his LLB (Hons) and Bachelor of Asian Studies (Japanese) from the Australian National University in 2006. Mr. Hewitt also studied at Kanazawa University as a Japanese government scholar in 2003 and at the University of Hong Kong in 2006. During university Mr. Hewitt worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Canberra which led him to be commissioned by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ International Disaster Response Law Programme to conduct a study in Sri Lanka on legal issues that arose during the post-tsunami disaster relief.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Hewitt was an associate with the Sydney office of Jones Day where he represented both Australian and foreign clients in cross border M&A transactions.

Mr. Hewitt is fluent in both spoken and written Japanese and is admitted to practice in New South Wales, Australia.
