Mr. Seltzer is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Seltzer’s practice focuses on the representation of U.S. and Japanese institutional investors in the acquisition, financing and disposition of real estate, including cross-border equity and debt financing, fund formations, development projects, and distressed loan portfolio acquisitions.
Mr. Seltzer received his B.A. from Columbia College in 1988, and his J.D. in 1992 and LL.M. in 1996 from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo office in June, 2003, Mr. Seltzer was with the Tokyo office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
Mr. Seltzer has been consistently ranked as one of the leading U.S. Real Estate attorneys in Japan, including by Chambers Global and Chambers Asia, IFLR, and The Asia Pacific Legal 500.
Representative Matters
- Represented large Japan lending institution in ¥58 billion TMK bond financing in connection with office building acquisition in Tokyo.
- Represented German leader of open-ended property funds in connection with ¥14 billion in retail and office acquisitions in Japan.
- Represented Japan arm of large U.S. investment bank in ¥7.5 billion financing of condominium development project in Japan.
