In this two-day seminar sponsored by the National Center for Industrial Property, Information and Training (NCIPI), speakers and panelists from industry and academia will address recent developments in the field of intellectual property and patent licensing. The seminar is scheduled for January 22-23, 2007 at the Hotel Nikko Tokyo at Daiba, Tokyo.
During the first day, Mr. John A. Fraser, President of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), will give a presentation entitled "Academic Technology Transfer - Communicating its Full Value." This will be followed by a panel of experts discussing the topic of foreign patent strategy in the global economy. In the afternoon, seminar participants will have the opportunity to attend any one of the following: panel discussions on industry-academia collaboration, a mock patent negotiation modelled on an actual case, or panel discussions on patent licensing strategies and the future direction of intellectual property.
During Day Two, Ronald L. Grudziecki, President of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), will present on recent IP trends in US jurisprudence. Seminar participants will then be able to attend panel discussions by leading experts on any one of the following themes: technology transfer and licensing in Japan, business and IP strategy including a mock patent infringement mediation case, or recent changes in US patent and IP law and initiatives in international technology transfer, particularly in Asia.
