Representative Experience

EchoStar

We represented EchoStar against Gemstar-TV Guide International in what has been called the biggest-ever patent case in the International Trade Commission. Gemstar claimed that EchoStar, Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., and Pioneer imported set-top boxes that infringed four United States patents. EchoStar won on multiple grounds, including non-infringement, no domestic industry, and as to the main patent, patent misuse and invalidity for failure to join a co-inventor.

Lucasfilm, Ltd.

We advised Lucasfilm, Ltd., one of the world's leading film and entertainment companies, in its negotiations with the Presidio Trust and in the development of the Letterman Digital Arts Center, a unique 800,000 square foot Class A corporate campus within the Presidio of San Francisco National Park, including obtaining the first LEED certification for a private building within a national park.
