Joanna Herman is an associate in the firm’s Product Liability Group. Her practice focuses on product liability litigation with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, mass tort, toxic tort, and aviation litigation. Ms. Herman has experience representing clients as national coordinating counsel in product liability matters in multijurisdictional and multidistrict proceedings, as well as before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. She handles all procedural aspects of these cases from depositions and court appearances to preparation for trial or settlement. Ms. Herman also has experience representing large corporations in real estate disputes.
Ms. Herman was awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Award from the State Bar of California for her pro bono contributions in 2008. In 2007, she was nominated as a “Top Young Attorney” in the San Diego Daily Transcript. She is a member of the International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) and was formerly a member of the Wallace Inn of Court.
Ms. Herman received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Columbia College, Columbia University in 1998 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2003. Prior to entering law school, she worked at LASPAU: Academic & Professional Programs for the Americas in Cambridge, Massachusetts; and as an assistant to the Executive Director & Development at the New York State Trial Lawyer’s Association. During law school, she was part of the Hale and Dorr Legal Services Center at Harvard Law School. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Herman was an associate in the San Diego office of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich.
