John F. Delaney is a partner and former Co-Chair of the firm's Technology Transactions Practice Group. Mr. Delaney has negotiated complex IT and business process outsourcing contracts and service level agreements, joint ventures, Web site development and hosting relationships, software and content licenses, Internet co-branding and "private label" agreements, and many other types of technology-related contracts.
He also has substantial experience in advising companies on issues such as IP audits, privacy and data security, social networking, contests and sweepstakes, advertising, digital signatures and electronic contracts, online auctions, domain names, copyright and trademark registration, unfair competition, and trade secrets.
Mr. Delaney also counsels clients on copyright and other intellectual property issues in connection with corporate finance transactions and mergers and acquisitions, and has successfully represented clients in high-profile intellectual property disputes.
Mr. Delaney is consistently recognized by Chambers USA and other notable third-party ranking organizations as a leading attorney in outsourcing and technology transactions, and he is regularly asked to speak regarding legal issues in these areas. He has been quoted in Newsweek, Advertising Age and The Wall Street Journal on emerging intellectual property law and business issues.
Mr. Delaney appeared on the cover of American Lawyer as one of the “lawyers for the new economy,” and also appeared on the cover of New York Lawyer as one of “fifteen lawyers 40 and under shaping the law for the 21st Century.” Crain's New York Business included him in its “Technology 100,” a list of individuals “likely to shape the direction and growth of New York's economy for years to come.” He is “highly recommended” by Global Counsel 3000 in the field of “IT and eCommerce.” Mr. Delaney is Co-Chair of Practising Law Institute's Outsourcing Conference.
While earning his J.D., Mr. Delaney was Executive Editor of the Journal of the Law and the Arts.
