Julie O’Neill counsels clients in all areas of consumer protection law. This includes online and offline privacy issues, advertising in all media, all forms of direct marketing (including online behavioral advertising, email, SMS, telemarketing, fax advertising, and direct mail), marketing through social media, mobile and online tracking and personalization, competitor and regulator challenges, and sweepstakes and other promotions. She also advises clients on compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Ms. O’Neill previously served as a staff attorney in the FTC’s New York regional office, where she investigated violations of federal consumer protection law. She is recommended by Legal 500 US 2012 in the areas of data protection and privacy and marketing and advertising.
Before attending law school, Ms. O’Neill was a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa.
