Representative Experience

Astellas Pharma Inc.
We represented Astellas in a $815 million collaboration and license agreement with San Francisco-based FibroGen, Inc. for the exclusive rights to develop and market anaemia therapies FG-2216 and FG 4592 in Europe, the Middle East, and South Africa; a $760 million exclusive worldwide collaboration (including an exclusive license to applicable patent rights) with CoMentis, Inc., to develop and commercialize products from CoMentis's beta-secretase inhibitor program, including compound CTS-21166, an orally bioavailable, small molecule beta-secretase inhibitor that is being developed as a disease-modifying treatment for Alzheimer's disease; and a $180 million global agreement with Maxygen, Inc. under which Astellas received worldwide rights to commercialize MAXY-4 lead candidates for all autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.
Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee
We served as international legal counsel to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG). We assisted with a range of legal issues arising from the requirements, preparation, and hosting of the 2008 Summer Games, including legal advice related to marketing, broadcasting, the protection of intellectual property, venue construction, procurement, entertainment, technology, and other related matters.
Cambridge Antibody Technology
We represented Cambridge Antibody Technology in connection with a major strategic alliance with AstraZeneca to discover and develop human antibody therapeutics in inflammatory disorders.
Fujitsu Limited
We represented Fujitsu Limited in its license covering the entire portfolio of patents of Rambus Inc. The agreement covers chip interface technology that Fujitsu has used in PCs and servers.
Novell, Inc.
We represent Novell with respect to open source software issues including its dispute with SCO over copyrights in UNIX.
Toshiba
We represented Toshiba in its $288 million acquisition of certain of Micron Technology's semiconductor patents and of a license under all patents owned or previously owned by Lexar Media.
Warner Music Group
We represented Warner Music Group in a joint venture with MySpace involving the licensing of a majority of Warner's catalog for use in various digital forms. The transaction also involved the licensing of applicable publishing rights through Warner Music's publishing arm.
