Partner Deanne Maynard argued her twelfth case before the U.S. Supreme Court on the first day of the 2010-2011 term. Ms. Maynard presented oral argument on behalf of MBNA (now part of Bank of America) in Ransom v. MBNA America Bank, N.A alongside Seth Galanter, Of Counsel. The case involved the interpretation of the Bankruptcy Code. The question before the Court is whether a person with an above-median income who declares bankruptcy can shield money from his creditors by claiming a deduction for a car payment he does not have.
