Our New York office was established in 1987. Market-leading practices based in the New York office include: bankruptcy and restructuring, capital markets, corporate, financial services, litigation, real estate, state and local tax, federal tax, privacy, and technology transactions. Our New York litigators have particular expertise in complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on securities litigation, antitrust, white-collar, internal investigations, products liability, intellectual property, and consumer class action defense for major companies and financial institutions.
Our corporate and transactional practice focuses on financing and M&A transactions, with a special emphasis on Asian companies and companies doing business in Asia. We are experienced in representing companies in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and entertainment and media industries. Our capital markets group has one of the five most active capital markets/securities practices in the U.S., representing issuers and underwriters in a broad array of global and domestic debt, equity and hybrid securities issuances. We also advise in connection with offerings of innovative financial products, derivatives and structured products. Members of our pre-eminent financial services group are based in New York. Their focus is on counseling foreign banks doing business in the U.S., counseling sovereigns in their financial transactions, and advising clients on consumer finance issues.
Our real estate group represents financial institutions, pension and real estate opportunity funds, and domestic and foreign institutional investors in connection with real estate development projects and real estate funds. Our bankruptcy and restructuring group advises debtors, creditors’ committees, creditors, receivers and liquidators in all aspects of domestic and cross-border bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, workouts and restructurings, and the purchase and sale of distressed assets, loans, and financial products.
Our privacy lawyers advise in the areas of privacy policies and procedures, security breaches, regulatory investigations, global compliance, cross-border data transfers, commercial transactions, and advertising and marketing regulation.
Our New York office has an active technology licensing and transactional practice, especially focused on clients in the internet, interactive media, entertainment, outsourcing, and life sciences industries.
Our tax practice provides state-of-the-art tax advice on an array of capital markets transactions, including hybrid securities, derivatives and debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and real estate transactions.
