Morrison & Foerster's long-time client Markham Vineyards recently sold its ultra-premium division La Jota Vineyards, including a 40-acre vineyard on Howell Mountain in Napa Valley, a century-old winery and La Jota's inventory of estate-bottled wines. Markham Vineyards is owned by Mercian Corporation, the leading Japanese importer of wines and spirits. The buyer is Artisans & Estates Vineyards and Wineries, an entity of Kendall-Jackson that represents boutique wineries. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
