Morrison & Foerster Selected as One of America’s Most Innovative Companies in Annual InformationWeek 500 Ranking

10/08/2007

SAN FRANCISCO – October 8, 2007 –Morrison & Foerster LLP has been selected an InformationWeek 500 award winner for its innovative use of technology.  The magazine’s 19th annual ranking of the nation’s top IT departments tracks technology practices among thousands of U.S. companies, and highlights the strategies, investments, and administration of the Top 500; Morrison & Foerster was ranked Number 42 in this year’s survey.

Illustrating the firm’s forward-thinking use of technology, Morrison & Foerster was only one of only two law firms included in the InformationWeek Top 250; the firm was also a Top 5 choice in the magazine’s Consulting & Business Services sector.  Other companies in the Top 50 include such iconic companies as Google, Kimberly-Clark, T-Mobile, Lehman Brothers, Marriott International, The New York Times Co., and General Motors.

“The Morrison & Foerster Information Technology team is gratified for InformationWeek’s recognition of our efforts to provide the highest level of service to our firm’s clients, attorneys, and staff,” said Jo Haraf, CIO of Morrison & Foerster LLP.  “Based on our own research and observation, we’ve known for some time the significant value that IT adds to the practice of law and to the working lives of our lawyers and staff.  We’re newly inspired by this year’s award to deliver even more innovative and efficient solutions to all our 2,500 employees and especially our clients.”

Among some of the firm’s IT initiatives likely contributing to its Top InformationWeek ranking are the extensive deployment of wireless technology across the firm’s 18 offices worldwide; the versatile use of mobile devices and notebook computers; a portal which allows clients to stay current on continuing matters; and AnswerBase, Morrison & Foerster’s award-winning intelligent search system, which provides attorneys and staff a centralized source for utilizing information across a growing number of diverse data sources.

“We’d like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. These companies represent today’s leading technology innovators, many of whom have joined us this week,” said InformationWeek vice president and publisher, John Siefert. “This group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward looking business technology initiatives to date.”

For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing.  The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.  Additional details on the InformationWeek 500 can be found online at www.informationweek.com/iw500/
