Alexis Amezcua is a litigation partner with extensive experience in class actions and other complex commercial litigation. Ms. Amezcua has practiced in a variety of substantive areas, including breach of contract, false advertising, wrongful termination, trade secret theft, unfair competition, product liability, federal banking law, complex consumer class actions, and wrongful death. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, and her practice includes substantive trial experience in both state and federal court, and arbitration proceedings. Her clients range from major financial institutions, international product manufacturers, and national retailers, to individuals. She has extensive experience representing clients in mass, complex consumer class actions, including in federal multidistrict litigation proceedings and state court coordinated proceedings involving various state unfair competition and deceptive trade practices laws.
Ms. Amezcua is a frequent author and speaker on issues concerning consumer class actions, arbitration strategy, and military lending statutes. She writes for the firm’s Class Dismissed blog (classdismissed.mofo.com), which provides insights, recommendations, and timely reports on the latest defense news, developments, and trends in the most current class action lawsuits and product liability issues that affect consumer-facing companies.
Ms. Amezcua is active in the firm's pro bono efforts, including representing veterans seeking mental health care in the highly publicized Veterans for Common Sense v. Peake, and as a participant in the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Volunteer Legal Services Program. She is a recipient of the State Bar of California's Wiley W. Manuel Award for public service.
